Minerva finishes off its Homecoming Celebration on Saturday, June 15th with a whole day filled with activities. The Midway opens at 4 that day with rides provided by Kissel Amusement Company. Early bird special for wristbands are $10 from 4-6 and good all night. After 6pm, wristbands are $18 or $2 single tickets with 10 tickets – $20 or 20 tickets – $30. The Community Building is open from 6-9. LIONBURGERS will be on sale starting at 11am on Wednesday, located in the LIONS Pavilion.
At noon, on the freshly completed pickleball courts, the Inaugural Pickleball tournament will take place. This is a round robin tournament with categories of Men:18-54, Men: 55 and UP, and Women. It is a $20 registration and the deadline to register is June 12th.
Across the creek starting at 2 and going to 4, Over the Rainbow will provide a kid’s activity with games and prizes.
Barb Thomas will have an Agility Dog Contest starting at 2pm. She will demonstrate the courses her dogs can go through, and you can bring your dog to test it out as well.
Kindred Roots will perform on the main stage from 4-6 as they bring their classic rock and blues flair to the Homecoming.
The Athletic Boosters are bringing back the TUG OF WAR across the creek. Plan to be there at 4pm with the event taking place at 4:15pm. Participants to be announced shortly.
Football Alumni Association will be holding a cornhole tournament in the beer garden from 6-8. Registration is that day and can be handled up until the tournament. It is a $15 fee for the tournament.
Face Painting will be available Saturday in the community building from 6-9pm.
The Roxy Theatre will hold its Duck Race during Homecoming this year instead of the Oktoberfest as usual. The race begins at the bridge closest to the stage and ends at the opposite bridge. The ducks are dumped at 7:30. You can buy ducks all the way up until it’s time to throw.
The Main Event for the day is Shadow of a Doubt (Tom Petty Tribute) playing from 8-10:30 on the main stage. Raffle drawings will take place during intermission of the band.
The Dunk Tank also makes its return this year, with the Minerva’s “2nd Friday” crew taking night 4.
New this year to Homecoming is the Minerva Beer Garden, located across the creek near the stage. The Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce will be pouring night 3. Also located in the beer garden on Saturday is Mean Bean BBQ and 330 Popcorn Co. food trucks. Grab That Axe will also be set up in the beer garden.
