Join us Tuesday, Oct. 23, 7 pm, in the Minerva Public Library’s Community Meeting Room, for the story of Gaines Snyder, prisoner of war during WWII, presented by his son, Mike Snyder. Gaines, was a US Navy submarine tender on the USS Canopus when the Japanese attacked the Philippines and made him a prisoner of war for three years and 59 days. He was one of the “lucky” ones, though, because most of his shipmates never made it home.
