Minerva-area Memorial Day observances are:
*Liberty Church Cemetery – Sunday, May 26, 1:30 p.m.
The program will include speaker Minerva Mayor Tim Tarbet. Daniel Herstine, a student from Minerva Middle School, will give the Gettysburg Address, and the Minerva Middle School Band will perform a patriotic musical selection.
VFW Post 4120 – Minerva, OH will provide the three-volley salute and “Taps.” Pastor Clint Frazier of Dominion Reformed Fellowship in Robertsville will offer the invocation and benediction.
*Valley Street Cemetery – Monday, May 27, 10 a.m.
A brief ceremony will be held by VFW Post 4120 at the Valley Street Cemetery with the three-volley salute and “Taps.” Participants will then parade to East Lawn Cemetery.
*East Lawn Cemetery – Monday, May 27, 10:30 a.m.
The program will include speaker Christopher Kinsey. Minerva Middle School students Emery Sell and Everett Pancoast will give the Gettysburg Address and the
Minerva High School Concert Band will perform patriotic musical selections. Pastor Phil Rittenhouse will offer the invocation and benediction. VFW Post 4120 will provide the three-volley salute, “Taps,” and the laying of the wreath.
*Moultrie Cemetery – Monday, May 27, 2 p.m.
The march to decorate the graves will begin at 2 p.m., after the salute from VFW Post 4120. Harmony Geiselman, fifth grader from Minerva Elementary School, will recite the Gettysburg Address. Patriotic music and taps will be provided by the Minerva Community Band. The program inside the chapel will include speaker Bill Pilati, WWII veteran from Minerva. Attending veterans will be recognized. Special music will be provided by Isabella Gambone. Joseph Ellis will lead the congregation in group singing. Ice cream will be served after the program.
